Sonification Project in the Electronic Studio of the TU-Berlin, Field 4
When this permanent Data-Sound-Window was installed in 1998, the intention was also to sonify data flow from the studio computer. The Data-Sound-Window would allow one to eavesdrop on the computer`s inner workings. Originally, the amazingly fast streams of data were to be connected to the recording studio`s on-site computers and transposed into audible range as "sounding data-streams"via a complex system of transformation. Activity, such as moving the mouse or clicking on a menuepoint, woud cause sonic reactions in the Data-Sound-Window. Today, hard-coded relay loops of some PCB`s, oscillating polymetrically into each other, amplify the found noises of the studio`s numerous other technical apparatuses.
