The audio-walk for the building of the mathematical faculty at Berlin Technical University introduces to the secrets of the computer. One window above the main entrance, and two inside the building are replaced by variably prepared motherboards. Walking into the building, the visitor approaches different levels of sound. The motherboards above the main entrance bear small loudspeakers, transferring “outer” sounds of computers, keyboards, mouseclicks and surrounding sounds from the central computer workspace in the building. On the second window, located in the passageway to the auditorium, relays and electromechanical components themselves sound in polyrhythmic patterns, triggered from outside. The third window in the quietness of the library replays, hardly audible, the sounds of “flowing data”, picked from the conductive paths on the motherboard of a locally installed computer.
